Get a Day Pass for all Public transit networks in Switzerland including trains for only around 40.- CHF in the city hall of your own city!

From time to time I organize Swiss Train Tour, if you wish to join one of them let me know!

How to get a Day pass at 40.- ?

If you live in a Swiss City, you have access to a limited number of day pass for all swiss transports (excepting exceptions..) this include trains, city buses, etc.

These cards can be reservated, or buy in advance, in your city hall. Have a look on your city website before to know how it works. You can write on google "Cartes journalières CFF + CityName", example with this google search:

https://www.google.com/search?q=carte+journalière+cff+lausanne

On the first link you get the Lausanne system. Warning, each city may have a different system, if you live in Pully, Lutry, Ecublens, etc, etc, all of these are different cities !

On Lausanne example the first link is:

https://www.lausanne.ch/prestations/info-cite/cartes-journalieres-cff.html

It says that you can buy a ticket for the current month or the next one only. You have to go to the Lausanne Tourisme center in the train station of Lausanne to get your card, there is a calendar showing how much cards remains on this link

The price may vary usually between 40 and 50 CHF.

If you don't have any card left or don't live in a Swiss City

  1. Saver Day Pass, check if there is one on the good date and with or without half fare travelcard (if you don't have a half fare travelcard, then you need a saver day pass that doesn't require a half fare travelcard.) https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/day-pass.html

  2. Ask the COOP, INTERDISCOUNT, MANOR or POST if they have a special offer, a lot of time they have such offers wich cost like 45-65 CHF for a day pass.

  3. Ask someone else to get a city ticket for you. This can be forbidden in some cities, some cities check who gets the card, some not, in any case, ask a local to get you a card, because going yourself to the city hall will not work in most of the case.

  4. Pay a daypass directly to the cff, but as they love to make huge prices and raise them up every year, I will not make you cry by giving any price here. Have a look at point 1) if you don't have a half fare travelcard or try to get a good price, otherwise for the fixed price: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/day-pass/day-pass-for-the-half-fare-travelcard.html

What to take with you on a swiss train tour day ?
